What is everyone using for debugger on Linux?

Hello, Been making all of the Diamond source changes using GUI Emacs. Until I get the changes done Emacs is the closest thing I can get to what I want, but it is annoyingly wrong in certain places. I'm not great with the GDB command line, but can normally muddle through. Not with CopperSpice. http:/...

Re: API stability and proje philosphy question

My deepest apologies.

The Verizon thing disconnected me while editing the response to Barbara. Previous response somehow got merged with I reconnected.

Re: API stability and proje philosphy question

Of course this is all up for discussion, but it may *start* to address seasoned-geek's concerns. But to be fair seasoned-geek, this is asking a lot of Copperspice ... based on the "promise" of a cash stream. I believe the Copperspice team to have the integrity not to promise what they have no inten...

By the way the last Vax I saw was on a farmers flat bed going to the scrap yard, and our HP9000 HP-UX machines we can't even find used parts on E-Bay (lost the source) Contact David at I...

Re: API stability and proje philosphy question

Let me take this just a bit further to increase understanding. https://www.welchallyn.com/content/dam/welchallyn/images/Product-Images/Patient-Monitoring/Vital-Signs-Devices/Connex%20Spot%20Monitor/CSM_front_screen.jpg Hopefully that link gets through. If someone could point me to how one is suppose...

Re: API stability and proje philosphy question

In my view, permanently maintaining an API and only adding new things without removing anything is not sustainable over time. At some point you find that an API is the source of bugs and you would do well to change or remove it. That would be the responsible thing to do. As a user it would also be ...

Re: Possible impending Qt fork and copperspice opportunity

People who build devices in a regulated environment need stability above all else. Security is always designed into the device, that is the reason it is a regulated environment. Most aren't even using any of your network code because they are all developing I/O appliances. They share no memory or di...

Re: Diamond: How committed to Settings as a structure

One of the first things I wanted to do was give it themes. Everybody seems to want to change colors to match mood or whatever. Now that I'm older, sometimes I need to do it just because of my eyes. Diamond does have settings for changing the basic colors and syntax highlighting. Do you think themes...

Re: Possible impending Qt fork and copperspice opportunity

So the idea of never changing the API is worrisome to me. We want to keep making CS better and sometimes a "bad" API is impossible to support. Right now we are in a full redesign of QVariant and this has resulted in a a few API adjustments. Maybe the real issue is more about random changes that pro...

Re: Possible impending Qt fork and copperspice opportunity

According to the last heated exchange on qt-interest. If you have a Qt license, nobody working on the project can use QtCreator unless they have a license. That means your firmware people who are just writing C/C++ code for device drivers and kernel stuff have to have a full-tilt Qt license if they ...
